The kick-off meeting of the NL4XAI project took place in Santiago de Compostela, October 10th, 2019.

This is an H2020 MSCA European Training Network funded with about 2.8M euros and coordinated by the research team headed by Senén Barro at the Research Centre in Intelligent Technologies of the University of Santiago de Compostela (CiTIUS-USC). The consortium is made up of 17 partners coming from 6 different European countries (UK, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, France and Spain). The partners correspond to 3 national R&D centres (IIIA-CSIC, CNRS-LOIRA, IFIS-PAN), 8 universities (Univ. Aberdeen, TU Delft, Univ. Malta, Univ. Utrecht, Univ. Twente, Univ. Lorraine, Univ. Dundee, USC) and 6 private companies (Indra, Accenture, Orange, Wizenoze, Arria, InfoSuport).

14 out of these 17 partners were represented in the kick-off meeting in which the project plan was outlined and main action points for the near future were defined. The goal of the NL4XAI project is training 11 creative, entrepreneurial and innovative early-stage researchers (ESRs), who will face the challenge of designing and implementing a new generation of self-explanatory AI systems, during the next 4 years. The recruiting plan is in progress and the call for applicants will be launched by the beginning of December.
